Cigarette smoking is one of the obvious causes to spontaneous miscarriage. It is a risk to procreative role, because smokers are at higher risk to shorter span for reproductive life, earlier age to menopause and premature menopause. But, not all smokers get aborted, and few are able to give birth to baby without much complication, still there is a danger of birth defects and ill health of both mother and the baby. Smoking in pregnancy is associated to more of prenatal mortality and lower birth weight.
